NewsOne big family at the 'Meet Your Neighbour' picnic BBQMedia Release It was a family affair at Bluestone Mt Barker on Saturday 11th February when 75 residents gathered for the community's inaugural 'Meet Your Neighbour' BBQ picnic on the reserve. Despite the chill in the air, the sun was out which made for a gorgeous evening to sit, relax and get to know the other residents who now call Bluestone home. Amy Dudfield, Jason Fishers and Linda Squires from the Mt Barker YMCA provided a range of children's entertainment including giant snakes and ladders, totem tennis, cricket and ball games, giving families the opportunity to meet one another. Residents contributed generously with delicious salads to share, while Mark Seidel, Ralf Ramos and Ian Duncan lent their expert BBQ skills. "The feedback I've received from residents is that it felt like a big family get-together. Everyone had a great time meeting their new neighbours and catching up with others they already knew," Bluestone Community Development Officer Stephney Sproull said. "Thank you to everyone who brought along salads and helped us cook and serve – there was more than enough food to go around and it was so good to see the care and generosity that people showed each other."
