Developers Walker Corporation and Day Corp are currently installing more than 3000 metres of gas piping to allotments across the first three stages of the Bluestone Mt Barker precinct enabling reticulated gas to flow to every new home developed across the clean and green project. 6 August 2008 Developers of the $150 million Bluestone Mt Barker project have committed $8 million to a vast landscaping program across the 95 hectare rural location. DayCorp and Walker Corporation will fund a major plan to revegetate land across the Bluestone Mt Barker precinct with more than 30,000 shrubs, 900 mature trees, 2000 native plants and grasses. The project will retain and protect 100 mature Redgum trees across the site despite heavy earthworks underway on the site as the developers prepare the land for residential living. 5 August 2008 Mount Barker South Primary School found a way to make planting trees a complete experience for students in years 5 to 7. On National Schools Tree Day the students plnated more than 100 tress at a local residential estate called Bluestone. 30 July 2008 School students, residents, developers and council representatives have helped make the Hills a little greener by planting hundreds of trees and shrubs throughout the region to mark National Tree Day 17 December 2007 The new Bluestone residential development has attracted strong support from the Mount Barker community with local families among the first to purchase land. More than 400 people attended an open day earlier this month to view plans for the 835-lot master-planned development off Hurling Drive. A major feature of Bluestone is the extensive landscaping and open space, with a range of large block sizes positioned to take advantage of the views. 14 November 2007 One of Australia’s leading developers has confirmed his confidence in South Australia’s property market with a new residential development that raises the bar in modern sustainable living. Lang Walker of Walker Corporation is teaming with local developer DayCorp Pty Ltd, headed by Dean Day, on a $150 million master-planned development at Mount Barker. The 835 lot development, named Bluestone, has a major focus on the environment and quality lifestyle, with extensive parklands and landscaping in keeping with the Adelaide Hills. 10 April 2007 Developers of the new Bluestone master-planned residential development are removing 76 pine trees from the old Alexander Farm in Mount Barker because they pose a risk to personal safety. A study by an independent arborist found the trees were old and in deteriorating health, and there is a moderate to high risk of them falling down. The report concluded the trees were inappropriate for a modern urban development.
